Acland is a small town north of Oakey, on the Darling Downs, 160 kilometres west of Queensland's state capital, Brisbane. Originally, the town was built to support what would become Queensland's oldest and continuously worked on coalmine site in the state. The town once had a population between 200 and 400 people prior to the mine's closing in 1984. By the 2006 census, Acland's population only consisted of 53 people.
